Google recently distributed among beta testers it’s latest product dubbed CR-48 notebook. Well known IT gadget lovers are among the first to test and see the real power of this notebook. In the end, they decide and comment whether the publicity that is it have is just a hype or a real one.
CR-48 Chrome notebook is just a prototype for the pilot program. Booting the machine takes only 10 seconds and it has the ability to resume in sleep mode instantly. It come’s with a built in WIFI and 3G, enabling users to connect to the internet anywhere they are. It also have a built in webcam for your video chat. Display size is 12 inches, with keyboard and oversized touch pad for better enjoyment in web surfing. Approximately 3.8 pounds with around 8 hours of active usage when in full battery.
The model is running base on the linux platform which they customize and come up with the new Chrome OS. They somewhat customize it by removing and adding some common functionalities. Having the internet in mind, Google focuses on the device for internet use. Or they may be preparing for a cloud computing environment.
While the hype and pitches about the product is all over Google, the beta testers pitch differently citing numerous functionality problem and inconvenience. Maybe this test product is still infested with bugs, and Google let the testers report whatever and whenever they found one.
Today, it’s not worthy to comment on this as this is still in the making. Let’s wait for a finish product that will be available in the market before we can conclude on the real hype about this gadget.
